Green Thumb is looking to take our manufacturing operation to the next level by optimizing our engineering workflow processes and building out our manufacturing facilities and automation strategy. As a Project\Process Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, installation, vendor selection\management, and startup of our existing\new facilities systems and automated production lines. Our ideal candidate will have previous CPG experience, a strong engineering background, and the vision and project management skills to own implementation of new systems, process equipment, and facility projects from inception to completion. The Project\Process Engineer will perform conceptual and detailed engineering design when required, will implement and execute capital projects, and will manage small to medium sized capital projects. This position will work collaboratively with other Engineers, Manufacturing Business Units, Quality and Regulatory Compliance, Commercial Teams, and Vendors. The successful candidate will demonstrate integrity, strong communication and people skills, analytical mindset, project leadership, and technical acumen.
This role will be covering our Mid-Atlantic Region encompassing NY, NJ, PA, MD and VA. and you will be based in one of those locations as well. Significant travel (50-75%) is required; during install and startups this may become a 100% for a period.
Conceptual and detailed engineering design and layouts, cost estimation for capital projects supporting Mid-Atlantic manufacturing operations
Develop manufacturing alternatives that meet the business requirements and provide processing solution for the project.
PFD & P&ID generation and development.
Equipment speciﬁcation & selection and evaluation of equipment suppliers.
Cost estimating for capital projects and process solutions.
Implementation & Execution of capital projects to support Mid-Atlantic Manufacturing: Construction scope and bid package development for small to large capital projects.
Coordinate and oversee the Equipment and system installation, check-out, startup and commissioning.
Successful transition of deliverables and documentation to Plant Operations and Maintenance staﬀ.
Capital Project Management: Budget, schedule, and resource management of small to medium size capital projects.
Lead multi-functional teams in order to ensure projects are executed successfully.
Make critical decisions under pressure and with limited information.
Research, develop, and propose appropriate new project applications
Develop tools and templates that feed Engineering Workflow Process
Develop project charters; ensure project objectives, scope, rationale, and success criteria are adequately defined, documented, and approved by key stakeholders prior to commencement of work and budget expenditures
Establish and enforce factory acceptance test criteria
Prepare project status reports; keep management, clients, others informed of project status/related issues
Responsible for SOP documentation, training, communication, observation program, standards manuals, initial equipment PM programs, initial spares setup and purchase, and other documents as necessary
Other duties as assigned
7+ years’ experience in a Project Engineering role and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical\Chemical Engineering or a related field.
Knowledge and experience in facility\process design typical for the food and pharma industry, including: A basic understanding of common process unit operations and equipment used; A basic understanding of sanitary design and construction practices; A basic understanding of GMP’s; A general knowledge of common equipment suppliers.
Possess a basic understanding of the design, application, and maintenance of process piping systems, food manufacturing equipment and process automation & instrumentation.
Demonstrated proﬁciencies in the food, pharmaceutical or other industry that is relative to GTI manufacturing processes, construction practices and standards and codes that support manufacturing.
Prioritize solutions and develop schedules based on an understanding of the required business objectives.
Proven troubleshooting and optimization skills.
Experience in manufacturing, reliability, continuous improvement, systems engineering, controls engineering, and/or industrial engineering practices
CPG manufacturing/packaging experience
Able to travel (50%-75%), with 100% requirements at times of startup, install, etc….
Strong Microsoft Project and AutoCAD Experience is a plus
Strong verbal / written communication, presentation skills
Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage small and medium projects from conception to implementation
Ability to work effectively with little supervision; highly independent / flexible setting priorities
Ability to manage multiple priorities and shift focus between tasks / projects
Ability to collaboratively lead / influence stakeholders across organizational functions
Must pass any and all required background checks
Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry
Must possess valid driver’s license
Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
Must be approved by state badging agency to work in cannabis industry
