Job Summary

A Merchandise Planner is responsible for optimizing the inventory flow and content in close synergy with the Buying team and in partnership with Allocation, Product Vision, Logistics, Procurement, Retail, and the MedMen vendors.

A Merchandise Planner is responsible for optimizing the inventory flow and content; included in that would encompass creating sales plans, forecasting sales and receipts to maximize opportunities and reduce risks in WOS (*Weeks of Supply), maintaining and the Open To Buy in close partnership with Buying, and leading the item selling reorder review meetings and reporting. Additionally, the Planner will manage replenishment program for our top items and create and present stretch plans for our top brands.

Partners with Buying and Allocation to reduce inventory risks and maximize sales

Manages and Optimizes inventory flow in partnership with Buying

Mines for opportunities to scale categories and brands

Creates, builds, maintains, and presents stretch plans for key brands

Forecasts, maintains, and presents out the OTB weekly, monthly, and quarterly

Leads the creation and share out of the sales plans, target receipts, and WOS quarterly

Creates, shares, and leads item and category weekly recaps to drive what’s selling and plan the exit for what’s not with Buying.

Reviews weekly reorders in balance with the OTB and in partnership with Buying

Contributes to the weekly business review and quarterly hindsight presentations

Maintains, projects, and partners with vendors and Procurement on the Replenishment Program

Scrutinizes opportunities for continuous replenishment and margin building

Reviews promotions efficiencies to progress the inventory planning to support future promos

Basic Qualifications


Has great verbal communications skills to lead high level conversations and synergize with all key cross functional teams

Is fluent in retail math, retail planning and forecasting to be able to deduce key actions from retail KPI’s

Strong Excel skills with formulas and pivots

Has great prioritization and organizational skills

Has strong teamwork skills to work with several cross functional partners


Preferred Qualifications 


Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

4-5 years of experience in Retail Merchandise Planning or similar role.


Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities as of now, but possibly in the future.

Working Conditions

This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Requirements

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary.

Travel Requirements

No travel will be expected for this position.
