Responsible for assisting with the management and optimization of all tasks within the functional areas of cannabis genetics and mother plant care with a continuous focus on compliance, safety accountability, product integrity, team productivity and cost. Support additional department operations, which include but are not limited to inventory control and supporting the vegetative and flowering stage gardens as required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Within a large-scale cultivation facility co-manage a team of Lead Growers and Grow Technicians in the performance of cultivation tasks such as mother plant care, cloning, transplanting, watering, feeding, defoliating, organizing, cleaning/sanitizing cultivation spaces and operator-level maintenance in the genetics and mother plant garden spaces.
Drive department core metrics (quantity, quality, and productivity objectives) and measure planned vs. actual performance daily.
Assist with the hiring, training, and development of the cultivation team.
Hold self and others accountable at all times.
Drive department continuous improvement and occupational safety initiatives such as the 5S program and Hazard Communication.
Ensure the team is perpetually focused on sanitation and bio-security practices.
Ensure product integrity; making sure plant quality is maintained while being cloned, grown, and harvested.
Direct daily audits of garden rooms to maintain optimal growing conditions.
Programming and monitoring of the computerized climate control systems.
Maintain indoor cultivation protocols and a nutrient regimen per Curaleaf SOP.
Coordinate tracking and recordkeeping functions within the state seed-to-sale e-system MJ Freeway remaining in compliance with DOH rules and regulations.
Follow standard operating procedures (SOP) for all operations, ensuring adherence to company and regulatory compliance (proper weighing, data recording, product tracking, security, green waste disposal, etc.
Review and evaluate production data files, records, and reports such as the Daily Hour-by-Hour Tracker, load plans, grow schedules, and plant inventory.
Manage plant scheduling to accurately project all facility requirements on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to maximize high-quality yield with efficiency and attention to production costs.
Assist with cataloging and tracking each individual strain from cloning to harvest.
Oversee IPM program including prevention/elimination of all types of mold, powdery mildew, spider mites, root aphids, fungus gnats, etc.
Oversee the safe handling and application of sanitizing, foliar and preventative chemical sprays.
Adept at industry best-practices and current on new techniques and insight with respect to nutrient of individual strains, high yield recipes, controlled stress environments to different growing systems and set ups.
Troubleshoot and resolve problems with lighting, HVAC, CO2, irrigation, and air flow systems.
Comprehensive knowledge of cannabis propagation and cultivation, especially with mother plant care and asexual reproduction.
Support facility maintenance and troubleshooting.
Co-manage the team through overtime assignments and rotational weekend schedules.
Remain competent in all cultivation tasks.
Additional duties as assigned.
Must be 21 years of age.
Subject to background check per state cannabis regulations.
Minimum 3 years cultivation experience.
Bachelor’s degree Horticulture, Agronomy or similar desirable, or relevant work experience.
Mastery of all grow mediums (soil, coco etc.) and irrigation methods (hand-water, sub-irrigation, drip systems).
Must be an outstanding team builder.
Knowledge of large scale commercial plant cultivation including crop rotation management, nutrient requirements, mediums, light requirements, and environmental control.
Knowledge of plant diseases, pests, and nutrient deficiencies and toxicity.
Competent in use of climate computer controls, and automated irrigation systems.
Competency in in building plant and work schedules.
Ability to effectively plan and prioritize.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to remain calm in periods of high stress or unusual activity.

Must possess the physical aptitude and health necessary to perform manual labor tasks required to accomplish duties, including but not limited to:
Sitting, standing, and performing repetitive tasks for long periods of time.
Standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds unassisted, carrying plants, product totes, pushing carts, etc.
Able to use hands, wrists, and forearms repetitively and with dexterity in job duties.
Able to wear required personal protective equipment for the duration of the shift.
