JOB SUMMARYAs a key member of Sunnyside Retail team, the Merchandise Planner will be responsible for creating and managing the overall inventory planning process for a region of Sunnyside states, ensuring we maximize sales opportunities, optimize inventory levels, and exceed company profitability objectives. You will work closest with our Retail Buyers, but as well with cross-functional partners such as S&OP, Marketing, and Analytics to determine the replenishment needs from 3rd party and inter-company transfers.
CORE JOB DUTIES
Quantify the Revenue, Unit, & Margin impact of new products, promotional, and assortment changes to Store / PPG; work collaboratively with Demand Planning to incorporate into Plan
Proactively manages store-specific inventory management-related promotions such as aged/expiring products and slow movers
Provides consultative guidance to Buyers on when & how much to buy of within Product Group
Leveraging demand plan & suite of BI inventory management tools, coordinate with S&OP and Wholesale on replenishment of 1st party/own brand within Sunnyside stores
Develop high level inventory classification frameworks (such as ABC) to assess which manufacturers and brands to invest vs divest, and further which SKUs to carry/avoid within each State/Category
Provide fiscal control of inventory management KPIs, margin management, manufacturer credits/rebates, out-of-stock rates, revenue impact to identify risk and opportunities by PPG
Determine the right store SKU count and level of variety needed by Planning Product Group
Lead merchandise analysis for quarterly performance reviews with cultivars/manufacturers on what’s working / not working
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND SKILLS
3+ years experience in retail buying, merchandising, or planning
Bachelor's Degree in Relevant Field preferred, but not required
Proficiency within Microsoft Excel required; Tableau &/or SQL a plus
Strong organizational and time management skills; able to handle multiple priorities
Possesses an attention for detail, critical & analytical thinking, and problem solving
Strong ability to analyze data and work with incomplete information
Ability to work in a collaborative and cross-functional team environment
Strong work ethic and able to function independently
Must be 21 years of age or older to apply
