Responsibilities:


Conduct chemical and physical laboratory tests on raw materials, in-process goods and finished products to determine if they meet quality specifications. Evaluates raw materials, in-process goods, and finished products for compliance to Company specifications and applicable New York State specifications.

Perform QC sampling of materials and products.

Perform routine quantitative HPLC analysis on a variety of sample matrices.

Retain samples for future evaluations.

Prepare and/or standardize solutions for testing.

Compile inventory and maintain stock of laboratory supplies and chemicals.

Maintain logbook records of testing analysis, research of raw materials and products and material retains, as well as other records as required.

Maintain routine repair of instruments and calibration of required equipment.

Train new laboratory personnel.

Keep equipment and work area neat, clean, and orderly.

Clean glassware, refill/replace items/solutions as needed.

Maintaining inventory records of supplies, materials, and equipment, and preparing requisitions as needed.

Storing supplies and equipment, disposing of waste per state regulations.

Maintaining material safety data sheets for all department chemicals and products.

Complete all microbiological analysis and record as required. Report results as necessary.

Responsible for analyzing and reporting product issues, including requesting manual orders, separation of good and bad product, issuing non-conformance reports and upkeep of QA logs. 

Conduct stability tests and studies following approved stability protocols.

Assist in approving and releasing of materials for use in product manufacture and/or clear products for sale.

Assist in the investigation of product complaints, including recording all testing information.

Procure R&D requested samples as required.

Cleaning and maintenance of laboratory equipment and laboratory facility following current good manufacturing practices (cGMP) and standard operating procedures (SOPs), complying with legal regulations; monitoring environment.

Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and create and/or update as necessary.

Abide by the facility rules.

Handle and track documentation.

Learn new procedures and complete training in the operation and use of new equipment as required.

Support laboratory manufacturing as needed.

Perform any other job-related tasks or duties as assigned by management.


Compliance:


Ensure processing operation is fully compliant with state regulations and federal and state law.

Assure that all operations adhere to business and industry license requirements.

Maintaining strict inventory records of all plant materials, chemicals and equipment used in the laboratory and document production by completing forms, reports, logs and records as required.


Job Qualification Requirements:


Bachelor’s Degree in a science field

2 years’ experience in a regulated laboratory environment

Experience conducting downstream processing and oil refinement

Must be at least 21 years of age

Pass a background check

Must have valid NYS license with reliable transportation

Must be able to work weekends and holidays as required

Capabilities with computer systems, software, and hardware common to laboratories recordkeeping procedures

Ability to keep precise, highly detailed, and accurate records of calculations, procedures, and inventory of equipment, chemicals, consumables, and production

Ability to comply with established safety standards for the proper use, safe handling and disposal of harmful chemicals, substances, and hazardous wastes

Ability to effectively train others

Scientific laboratory procedures and techniques as used in a chemistry laboratory

Scientific laboratory equipment and apparatus

Scientific methods of measurements

Health and safety practices and precautions applicable to a chemistry laboratory

Ability to maintain confidentiality

Ability to work with regulated material in a fast-paced environment

Ability to focus & attention to detail

Ability to communicate both verbally and written

Work with Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook

Work with BioTrack THC and other inventory management software systems


Physical Requirements:


Must be able to stand for long periods of time, along with frequent bending and reaching

Close visual focus required (clear vision at 20 inches or less)

Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items, work with fingers to manipulate small objects

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and push up to 100 pounds with assistance
